Happy Illustration Friday! This week's topic is a favorable "rescue". So, why not an old boot?

This boot has seen some action, rescuing left and right (well, actually just left I suppose...). Recue from boredom, from inactivity, from wet feet, from restlessness, from cabin fever, from boredom with suburbia... Rescue dog need a walk? Take her!

I'm reminded this week of my appreciation of go-anywhere footwear. A spring-break blizzard can't keep one down when there is loyal footwear chomping to be made useful.

Go forth. Be rescued.

  1. I like the shoe. It speaks volumes without saying much. A worn shoe that has been down many trails, crossing many streams, stepping over many rocks. If only it could talk, what tales would it tell. I keep saying it, but your skill as an artist is getting better & better.

  2. Very nice drawing! Love the colors!

  3. I love the drawing!

This homage to the shoe/boot reminds me now why I have been fretting over spring/summer footwear. As in your climate, most sensible people EXPECT that everyone is wearing waterproof, cold/snow/slushproof footgear in the wintry months. I think I have worn the same Land's End boots for the past 5 years! They are water-resistant grey suede on the bottom and a grey fleece material up top, plus a sole that is semi-=bootlike, semi-sneakerish. And then when there is HEAVY snow, I have my trusty black snow boots that are so warm, I can wear them without socks.

Now that the warmer weather is here, I put the clunky, foot-nurturing boots away and have to DEAL with my feet.

Maybe I will finally cave to comfort this year and just switch from boots to sneakers???(at least, not old lady ALL WHITE sneakers! LOL)

  4. It looks like a well-loved boot!

  5. Unique take on the rescue theme.Lovely drawing.
